Musician & Audio Engineer
Hi, I’m Kaanan Tupper—a professional musician and audio engineer with 25 years of experience. I own and operate Major Appliance Recording, a hybrid analog/digital studio based in Athens, Georgia.
My studio is a compact, full-production space outfitted with Apple Logic Pro, acoustic drums, electric and acoustic guitars, basses, amps, and keyboards—designed to deliver versatility and character in every recording.

I’ve also worked with artists like Rob Magill, Zhoark, The Intelligence, and psych-rock outfit Shy Fades. Across genres—rock, folk, hip hop, country, and metal—I’ve recorded and mixed solo musicians and full bands alike.
While drums are my first love, I’m also an accomplished guitarist and bassist. Whether in studio or on tour, I’ve often jumped in on guitar, bass, or keys to bring a track to life.
I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with artists including Jeremy Enigk, Sunny Day Real Estate, Country Teasers, A-Frames, Wesley Willis, and many others—as a musician, engineer, and tour manager.
Currently, I’m expanding into voiceover recording and composition for film and TV. I also offer mobile recording—able to pack up and track in rehearsal spaces, venues, barns—anywhere inspiration strikes. My focus is always the performance. After all, some of the greatest records were born outside the studio walls.
